External Engagement and Global Division
Strategic Marketing
The Strategic Marketing team develops and delivers the University’s marketing strategies to meet its recruitment and business objectives.
We’re a highly skilled team that works with colleagues across the faculties and professional services, as well as external agencies and suppliers, to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of strategic marketing activity.
Using market and customer data, the team delivers targeted and integrated cross-channel marketing campaigns, manages and evolves the programme portfolio, forecasts and plans for student numbers, and is responsible for brand reputation and positioning.
The EEG Partners each face a specific faculty and act as the strategic partner between the faculty and division, covering marketing and communications; admissions, student recruitment and access (UK and International); partnerships; alumni relations; and supporter engagement and philanthropy.
Working closely with the Faculty’s Executive Group and the University’s wider Strategic Marketing team, the Partners hold expert knowledge on the faculty portfolio. They provide strategic marketing direction and set the faculty priorities for marketing and recruitment; strategically plan their annual marketing and comms in collaboration with the Head of Campaigns, setting budgets and providing key markets and audience data.
The Partners also work with colleagues across the University’s central Professional Services (PS), and with academic and PS colleagues in their own and other faculties, to operationalise and deliver their strategic activity. This includes building arrivals and decliners surveys to better understand our audience and their behaviours, evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns, reviewing in-year trends and patterns, undertaking analysis to inform financial decisions (eg. pricing and scholarships), and guiding the admissions policies and tactics across each faculty.
The Campaigns team delivers against institutional and faculty marketing objectives for student recruitment, reputation and community and industry engagement.
Made up of experienced professionals across the full marketing mix, including digital marketing, marketing communications, design, content production, and marketing analytics, the team plans, delivers, optimises and reviews fully integrated marketing campaigns.
They work in partnership with digital advertising agencies to deliver our paid marketing activity, develop creative and content including video and digital publications and use market intelligence and campaign analytics and tracking to drive continuous improvement.
The team works alongside External Engagement and Global Partners to deliver marketing activities based on faculty priorities, as agreed by the Partners. They also work with other departments within and outside of EEG including the Multimedia Design Studio, the Digital Team, International Student Recruitment, UK Student Recruitment, Widening Participation and Outreach, Communications, Press and PR, Admissions, CRM, the Strategic Delivery Unit, and Research and IIB as just some examples.
