Nights out, nights in
A guide to Falmouth’s nightlife
Mangos
Falmouth’s number one club (not that there are many). Great for a night of dancing to bad music with your friends. Shots are £1 on Wednesdays – perfect for a student budget!
Top tip – get your stamps early on in the night.

Or stay in instead!
You don’t always have to go out! Lots of people at uni enjoy a night in – sometimes it’s just more fun to make hot chocolate and watch a movie with your flatmates, or maybe even get some work done.

Five ideas for nights in at university
Film night
All you need is a laptop or TV and your choice of snacks.
Come Dine with Me
You can be as creative as you like with this in terms of themes, dress code and entertainment, such as black tie with Italian food and karaoke.
Cocktail night
Your drinks can be based on many categories, from your degree subject to TV or film characters.
Bake something
A popular choice is banana bread which is great for using up food that would be wasted otherwise.
Board game or quiz night
Grab a game like Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit and be prepared to get competitive.

A guide to Exeter’s nightlife
Top spots for your night out in Exeter
The University of Exeter’s club scene is diverse and offers something for everyone. Timepiece Wednesdays and Fridays are popular, offering an upstairs clubbing area and a downstairs pub / bar. The Lemon Grove and Fever are also top destinations for a club night. Move and Cavern cater to music lovers, with events including house, drum and bass, indie and rock. So, whether you’re looking for a wild night out or a laid-back atmosphere, you’ll find it all here at the University of Exeter and with different venues hosting different nights, there’s always a great opportunity to go out and experience something new!

The nightlife in Exeter is perfect whether you want to go out consistently every week or every now and then. The most popular nights are Cheesy Tuesdays at Unit 1 and Fever Wednesdays. These were some of the most fun nights in my first year.
The best clubs are definitely Fever and Unit 1 as well as Timepiece. I have heard that a night at Move is always good fun though. Cavern is known for its live music with a focus on indie and smaller bands. It is really popular and has an Indie Night every Saturday.

Exeter open mic nights
If you’re musically inclined, then it’s worth knowing about some of the events that happen regularly in and around Exeter. There are many ‘open mic’ nights where you can show off your original or cover material, or simply get inspired listening to others.
These are great opportunities to network and meet other performers too – I’ve made so many new friends this way!
Some of my favourite regular nights are at the City Gate (Sundays), Ship Inn, Topsham Brewery & Tap Room, Artigiano, The Mermaid (various Wednesdays) and Coolings (Thursdays), but others pop up now and then.
ExTunes on a Sunday night at the Firehouse is always a lively one at which soloists and student bands pre-book a spot. And if you just feel like sharing some of your melodies during the day, there’s always the piano in the Forum!
